Building certifiers and surveyors

A compliance summary you can read first

The report is written so the result is on the first page. The schedules behind it show what was checked. If you need a different order for your checklist, say so when you refer the project.

What the summary states

  • The NCC edition the assessment used, and the state or territory
  • The building class and the parts of the work that were in scope
  • Whether each assessed item meets the Deemed-to-Satisfy provisions, does not, or could not be closed
  • State variations that changed an item in scope
  • Assumptions, and drawings or schedules that were missing
  • A statement that the report is not a performance solution and is not itself a building approval

NCC 2022, and NCC 2025 when it applies

Reports are prepared to the NCC edition that applies to the application. Western Australia and the ACT have been on NCC 2025 since 1 May 2026, and NCC 2022 is still accepted there until about 30 April 2027. New South Wales, Victoria, Queensland, South Australia and Tasmania move to NCC 2025 on 1 May 2027. If your referral names the edition, that is the one used.

Ask for a sample

A sample Section J report is available on request. It is not published here, and this site does not show client names or project photographs. Use the quote form and choose “Sample report for a certifier”. Andrew Costi will reply by email.
